Home stretch: Our new Permit Service Center (PSC) will open April 22!

Same Day Permit hours NEW as of April 1

In mid-2012, the Napa County Board of Supervisors consolidated the County’s permitting departments into the Department of Planning, Building and Environmental Services and in mid-April 2013, the department’s staff collocated on the second floor of the County Administration Building, and the Permit Services Center opened for business.

The Permit Services Center, with its reception area and consolidated permit counter, is designed to facilitate customer services and improve organizational efficiencies.  Professional staff with expertise in planning, building, environmental health, engineering, conservation, and fire safety will be on hand to answer questions in person or by phone throughout the day, Monday through Friday.  Administrative staff will help customers find the resources they need.

With the opening of the Permit Services Center, we now take credit cards for all transactions, and we have doubled availability of our popular “same day” permit service for small building permits.  Staff is available for this service four days per week (Mondays through Thursdays) from 8:00 AM to 10AM.  Building permit applications submitted at other times will continue to be classified as “over the counter,” “quick permits,” or “standard permits,” depending on the nature of the project.

We have other operational changes in the works, including reduced plan set requirements (effective June 1), and access to department records and permit histories on line (by the end of the year).
