Napa Fire Complex Update

City of Calistoga Evacuation Order Reduced from Mandatory to Advisory

NAPA –At 2pm on Sunday, October 15th, the Mandatory Evacuation Order affecting residents in the City of Calistoga will be reduced to Advisory. Mandatory evacuations outside of the City of Calistoga remain. Access to the City of Calistoga is for residents only. Residents can proceed to Calistoga via Silverado Trail or via SR 29.
The following routes remain closed:
  • 128 East of Bennett Lane
  • SR 29 from Lake County to Tubbs Lane
  • Petrified Forest Road
While Calistoga has been spared the direct impact of fire, it has been impacted by ash fallout. To avoid health problems because of ash, the following is recommended:
  • Do not allow children to play in ash, wash ash off of children’s toys before they play with them
  • Wear gloves, long sleeved shirts, and long pants to avoid skin contact
  • If you get ash on your skin, wash it off as soon as possible
  • If you have a vegetable or fruit garden, wash the fruit or vegetables thoroughly before eating
  • Avoid getting ash into the air as much as possible. Do not use leaf blowers or take other actions that will put ash into the air
  • N-95 or P-100 masks are more protective than desk or surgical masks in blocking particles from ash
  • Gentle sweeping of indoor and outdoor hard surfaces followed by wet mopping is the best procedure in most cases
  • Collected ash may be disposed of in the regular trash, ash may be stored in plastic bags or other containers that will prevent it from being distributed
The public is reminded to remain vigilant on current fire conditions. Please drive slowly as emergency personnel continue to operate in the area.

The Board of Supervisors and staff of Napa County are dedicated to preserving and sustaining Napa County for present and future generations as a community with generous open space, a thriving agricultural industry and a quality human and natural environment.
