The Final EIR for the Jail is available
Planning staff has completed the Final Environmental Impact Report for the planned new County Jail, near Napa State Hospital. Minor changes from the Draft EIR include a decision on the preferred parcel of land, demolition of some existing buildings, a site for the staff-secure facility and design refinements for a pedestrian/bike trail. Next step: Staff will ask the Board to certify the EIR at an upcoming meeting.

Grant funds available for arts and culture
The Board's Arts and Culture Advisory Committee has grant funds available for Napa County 501(c)3 arts and culture organizations. Interested? Attend one of the Committee's grant workshops in February and apply by March 25.

Filing deadlines for June 3 election
Want to run for an office that will appear on the June 3, 2014, Primary election ballot? The filing period starts Feb. 10 and closes on March 7, unless an incumbent does not file by March 7, in which case filing is extended (for non-incumbent candidates only) to March 12. Offices on the June 3 ballot include Governor, State Assembly, County Supervisor Districts 1 and 3, and other state and local offices.

Pay second installment taxes by April 10
The Treasurer-Tax Collector reminds us all that the second installment of the 2013-2014 Secured Property Taxes becomes due Feb. 1, 2014, and will become delinquent after April 10, 2014.

Most County offices closed Feb. 12 and Feb. 17
Most County offices will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in observance of Lincoln's Birthday and on Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of Presidents' Day. Some 24-hour facilities, such as
Juvenile Justice Center
, will be open. Please call ahead before visiting those facilities to ensure the services you need will be available.
