Veterans Benefits Administration
In partnership with the Veterans Health Administration and the National Cemetery Administration, provides benefits and services to the veterans and their families in a responsive, timely and compassionate manner in recognition of their service to the Nation. This website has current, detailed information regarding the many Federal benefits available to veterans and their families.
California Department of Veterans Affairs
Full information regarding California state benefits and programs for veterans and their families. The site includes details and an on-line application for Cal-Vet Home Loans, and information regarding the Veterans Home, various memorial programs and projects, and links to other veterans-related sites.
California Employment Development Department (Veterans Program)
Eligible veterans are entitled to receive priority services in job referrals, referrals to training, and other employment-related services. Provides details and links to employment services and job listings.
National Personnel Records Center (NPRC)
Provides copies of documents from military personnel and medical records to authorized requesters, including DD-214 and other discharge papers. This new web-based application will provide better service on these requests by eliminating mailroom processing time. Select the "Where is...? How do I...?" drop-down to go to veterans service records.
“Military.com, the largest online military destination, offers free resources to serve, connect, and inform the 30 million Americans with military affinity: active duty personnel, retirees, veterans, reservists, guard members, defense workers, family members, and those considering military careers.” The very large site has news, information on benefits, links, a “buddy-finder” service, job search information and resources.
Napa County Mental Health Crisis Services:
If you or someone you know may have a mental health crisis or mental health emergency please call us at 707-253-4711 24 hours a day. Our services are available to Napa County residents of all ages. Any person in crisis will be seen and assessed regardless of eligibility. Bilingual (English/ Spanish) services are available. The unit serves as an intake point into other mental health services and provides referrals for other services.
Provide counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat Veterans and their families, specializing in PTSD, sexual trauma and grief counseling. Vet Centers guide Veterans and their families through many of the major adjustments in lifestyle that often occur after a Veteran returns from combat. Services for a Veteran may include individual and group counseling in areas such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), alcohol and drug assessment, and suicide prevention referrals. All services are free of cost and are strictly confidential. Local centers are in Rohnert Park (707) 586-3295 and Concord (925) 680-4526.
North Bay Veterans Resource Center:
Provides supportive services to very low-income veteran families, employment counseling and training, and transitional housing (707) 341-2461
Yountville Veterans Home:
A community of and for veterans. Founded in 1884, VHC-Yountville is the largest veterans’ home in the United States, offering residential accommodations with a wealth of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for independent living. Some 1,000 aged or disabled veterans (both men and women) or World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom now live at the home. Admissions office provides tours for potential residents and can be reached at 707-944-4601.
