9th Sheriff Citizen’s Academy

Next Academy starts March 6th, 2013.  Space is Limited

The Napa Sheriff’s Department is pleased to offer the 9th Sheriff Citizen’s Academy. The Academy provides participants with an opportunity to interact with members of law enforcement (Sheriff’s Department, Napa Dispatch Center, and Napa District Attorney) while learning and performing (through role–playing) the job duties of a law enforcement officer. This class is not intended to prepare participants for a career in law enforcement.

Academy Objectives:

  • Increase communication and build a relationship of trust and understanding between the Sheriff’s Department and the citizens of the community.
  • Provide education and insight to citizens concerning the job functions of a law enforcement officer.
  •  Create a non-threatening setting for citizens to share concerns with Sheriff’s Dept. employees.
  •  Fosters a pool of well informed “graduates” who will share knowledge and insight with others.
  •  Build a pool of alumni graduates.

*The Sheriff Citizen’s Academy will run from March 6th, 2013 to May 29th, 2013. The majority of classes will be 3 hours per session, and the first class begins on March 6th, 2012 (Including two Saturdays to be announced). The academy will be held in the Sheriff's Department building located at 1535 Airport Blvd.
