Overview of the Consumer/Environmental Protection Division
Welcome to the Consumer/Environmental Protection Division of the Napa County District Attorney's Office. Here you will learn how we fight consumer fraud, how to protect yourself from cons and scams, and who to contact if you've been victimized. You will also learn how to report environmental violations, and what practices are or are not environmentally legal.
The CEPD protects consumers and honest businesses from unfair business practices, ranging from a deceptive sales pitch by a local car dealer to false advertising by national corporations. It also serves to protect the environment and consequently, the health and safety of Napa County's citizens.
Consumer fraud is a preventable crime. By learning about current scams and rip-offs in the marketplace and by following basic tips on smart consumer behavior, you can protect yourself and help us protect all the consumers of Napa County. Environmental crimes are serious crimes and need to be reported, investigated and prosecuted. Citizens can be instrumental in helping the CEPD meet this goal.
