On Dec. 15, 2009, the Board of Supervisors adopted a vacation rental ordinance updating the definition of a "dwelling unit" in County Code and clarifying the County's longstanding prohibition on the use of dwelling units as transient commercial occupancies (i.e., weekend tourist rentals). The Board of Supervisors also requested that planning staff meet with interested stakeholders to explore potential alternatives to the prohibition on vacation rentals contained in the ordinance, and report back within 90 days. Relevant documents are provided here.
UPDATE: The next meeting on the Vacation Rental Ordinance is scheduled with the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
